Until There's A Cure must RECEIVE your application packet AND email no later than July 11, 2008. To assure equal opportunity, there will be no exceptions.

Decisions regarding the granting of funds will be made and organizations will be notified by October 15, 2008. Please do not call the Until There's A Cure Foundation office regarding grant status. The office staff will not be permitted to inform you over the phone of the status of your organization's application.

Please remember that the Foundation receives more applications for grants than we are able to fund. If you are not funded this year, your organization is not precluded from submitting application the following year. However, during the year, you may participate in the Retailer Referral Program and the Partnership Program to generate granting funds for your organization.

General Qualification Information

Grant funds must be used for HIV/AIDS, and the program for which you are requesting funds should offer a means of introducing and/or producing positive community change in one of Until There's A Cure® Foundation's priority areas:

  • Prevention Education / Awareness
  • Direct Care / Services
  • Vaccine Development / Research
  • Policy Development / Research

The Rock To be eligible for a grant, your organization must submit evidence of tax-exempt status from the Internal Revenue Service under Section 501(c)(3).

Grants are made only to organizations that are nondiscriminatory on a basis of age, disability, ethnic origin, gender, sexual orientation, race, and religion.

The Foundation typically makes one-year grant awards, depending on the goals of the program and its projected outcomes. Grant size varies and is dependent on the type of project, the need of the organization and its target population, capacity of the proposal to affect the largest number of people, and the Foundation's annual giving budget and program concentration. Also considered in the awarding of grant money is the number of proposals in each category, as well as an intended balance of geographic distribution.

Priority may be given to organizations:

  • With limited resources, sources of income, and funds
  • In which our funds will have the greatest impact
  • That assist the Foundation's fundraising efforts, including sales of The Bracelet through programs such as the Retailer Referral Program and Partnership Program.

Limitations

The Foundation does not make grants in the following cases:

  • For walk-a-thons, tournaments, or special events
  • To organizations with religious affiliations, unless the program is open to the entire community without regard to religious beliefs
  • For costs already incurred by an organization
  • To fund general administration expenses of an organization rather than for specific projects and programs

The Foundation might make a limited number of international grants. However, any such grants would be directed to qualifying organizations that have an office in the U.S. or an affiliation with a U.S.-based 501(c)3 organization, and are approved under U.S. statutes.

Size of Grants

During the last annual granting cycle (2007), grants were awarded between $2,000 and $100,000, with the majority in the range of $4,000 to $6,000. This year we have seen a reduction in retail Bracelet sales (a major source of funding) and, therefore, anticipate a reduced amount of funds available for granting.

Reporting Requirements

All organizations receiving financial assistance in the form of a grant from Until There's A Cure Foundation must submit reports detailing the use of funds and progress toward achieving the organization's goal. The Grant Agreement Letter, which accompanied your grant indicates when your final report is due.

Partnering Requirements

All organizations receiving financial support from Until There's A Cure Foundation will support the Foundation's mission of raising funds and awareness of HIV/AIDS by increasing the visibility of The Bracelet. Examples of partnering opportunities include:

  • Publicizing the Until There's A Cure Foundation and The Bracelet in your newsletter or web site
  • Sharing your mailing list for a one-time mailing
  • Participating in the Partnership Program
  • Introducing Until There's A Cure to a retail or corporate organization which might be willing to sell The Bracelet – the Retailer Referral Program

The Foundation will consider other types of partnership activities. You may submit suggestions along with your application.

To facilitate the opportunity for grantees to participate in the Partnership Program (and receive 25% of the total revenues from their Bracelet sales), a Partnership Program Agreement form will accompany the Grant Agreement Letter.
